Hoppe's No. 9 Deluxe Gun Cleaning Kit

This is a great kit, don't get me wrong. I can't give it a 5/5 stars for 3 reasons, but before I list them let me be clear. For the money, this is exactly what a novice and new firearm buyer needs. It has instructions on what you need to make sure to do, and all the parts are very nice.First problem, based on the name I thought it had a carry handle on it, but it does not. I personally didn't want to have to deal with a random wooden box, so I relocated all the equipment to my Gun case, but the box is very nice none the less.Second Problem, The cleaning rod sections do not always securely thread together. Its a transient issue, but sometimes when I am cleaning the barrel the sections come loose a bit and I have to stop and re secure them. It's not a huge deal, but I would have expected better.Third, The cap on the oil they provide is rather loose, and prone to leaking small amounts of oil into the case. I wrapped it in paper towels, and put it in a ziplock. Not a huge deal, but I would have expected better.I needed a comprehensive cleaning kit, and the price was right. Buy some spray on Rem Oil with this, and you have 95% of everything you are going to want for cleaning. Some extra uncut patches might be a good idea as well, because the included patches are a bit small for some uses, and there is extra room in the box.All things considered, I would give it a 4.5, but that is not an option here.

This kit has everything you need for basic cleaning of your firearms. From .22 caliber to 12 gauge, you're covered. The cleaning solution is super effective, the oil is great, and the wooden box is a plus. The only thing I would criticize about this kit is the quantity of patches that you get. But hey, patches are cheap. 10/10 would recommend.

I've read other reviews that say the box is too nice for the type of treatment it will receive. So, learn to treat your things with respect. The kit contains basic items and is well built. No need to hog it out if you wash up.

Read the book which comes with it. Comes with a nice amount of accessories, but you will begin to use them up, so, please order extra supplies which go inside after you begin to use, especially clean white large patches. Good quality, can clean hand guns, and long guns. Good starter cleaning hit. Study, read up, learn how to clean so as to do it right. I like this item. I cleaned revolvers, but when cleaning a rifle, and using a little more force, one of the black plastic slotted ends broke off; It was screwed in, unable to pull it out of the metal rod. No damage occurred to the rifle. From now on, I will use strong more metal tools and not a plastic slotted end, unless I really need to, but do so gently. The case, cleaning liquid, and oil are a must which come wit this package are good quality, however the gun cleanse soap liquid tended to leak out of its container, could not find out where, so I had to double zip lock bag it. The cleaning fluid and oil have a very strong odor, so I suggest when cleaning, and storing, do so far from where people or animals normally congregate. I suggest wear gloves and mask when cleaning. A must have kit for every gun. Did I mention, such a beautiful wood classic finish, brass closure never rusted over 3 yrs now.

Hoppes No. 9 Gun maintenance kit is one of the nicest cleaning sets youll find. Right when you open the package you notice the quality of the wooden case and how nice and neat all the items fit. Be careful to NOT over screw the cleaning rods so that you don't strip them. The lubricant and cleaning spray works great for making sure your firearms are all in tip top condition. Also you'll need to purchase extra cleaning pads because there's only small amount included in the kit. Overall this is a great package if you want to keep it all in one place.
