Great little set for entering (or re-entering) the craft
I ordered this set because my current set of tools was buried in a storage locker. It is a great selection of tools for someone just starting out. While the thread and the tape were a little bulky for my personal taste, they are both completely usable, especially for practice bindings in my situation. It is super handy to have pretty much everything you need except the paper and the glue/paste included in this compact little box so you can be mobile with your project with not a lot of effort.Great value. Highly recommend this set if you are starting out.

BEST deal!
I was surprised when I received my kit! It was FABULOUS. I loved going through it all, much better than I expected! I decided on a thread color, threaded one of the needles and off I went making a new watercolor journal. I had an old photo album I cut apart to use the cover for watercolor paper. It came out great! These are great quality materials and the best part was the price. Very good value here. I will shop here again!

Awesome starter kit for new art journal and book makers.
I loved this kit. It is great for beginners. The kit has every tool you need to make your first 6 books. I adore it and feel that is was a great compliment to the book I bought on making your own books.

It's got good and bad, but it's mostly worthwhile.
I'll go through the good first and progress to the worst things. The ruler is metal, not super thin, decent quality, and I like that it was packaged in its own plastic. It's also double sided. Very useful. The compass is nice, metal, very sharp points, and came in its own nice little storage case. It has a little refill tube in the case with 2 pieces of (probably) graphite, but 2 is all you get. The metal point that's loaded in it where the graphite tips go makes that a positive thing for me though. The curved needless are as expected, the straight ones have a nice storage tube. None seem to be missing. The brush is softer than it looks, but was in a little plastic sheath, keeping it safe. The scissors, although smaller than I expected, are very nice. They're sharp and cut nicely and the tip cover was a nice surprise. The awl is well made and sturdy, smooth handle. The point isn't nearly as sharp as I expected and the black plastic piece on the end is solidly in place (I'd wondered if it might swivel, but it doesn't). The threads are nicely waxed. Not too much, not too little. The colors aren't quite as varying as I expected. I thought there'd be a bit darker shades in the deeper colors, but still usable anyway. For me, the color difference is not a big deal. The metal binder clips are strong, but they will close crooked on things because that super thin connection point at the back allows it to flex. They're pretty, but the color flakes off easily and 2 of mine actually arrived with flakes of color missing. The pencils are meh, pretty standard cheap pencils. The erasers are loose, but the tip protector things are nice. The curved bone knife feels like it may have a slight crack or flaw, but seems sturdy enough for now. It has a very nice edge on the end. I'm disappointed in the straight bone know though. It's way smaller than the product pictures indicate and the edge on it is so much more dull than the other tool. The point is very dull and the edges aren't thin enough to do much of anything with creases. Very disappointed in this piece. The fabric tapes were not rolled, nor were they white or even off-white colored. They came stuffed and wrinkled in little plastic bags and I had to roll one myself just to see if it looked like a similar amount to the product pictures. I haven't measured the bigger one so I can't verify if I was shorted or not, but I had been hoping for a paler color in them. The smaller one was not cut well and had an extra think coming off one end. I measured the smaller tape and it's 70.5 inches. I can't remember the amount it's supposed to be. The needle threader was not well made, already had ink "worn off" looking before I took it out of its little plastic bag, and the wire is bent pretty far to one side. I'm really not confident that this thing is going to be usable at all. The wires aren't even all the way down in the pinched shut folds that should hold it tight together. The only thing worse is the thimble ring. It's thin, flimsy, easy to warp and damage, and sharp. It's at best going to be very uncomfortable and at worst likely to cut into flesh. This thing is a piece of garbage and dangerous to use. Trash it.

Great Value
This kit has everything I need to bind my art journals. The thread is fantastic and the variety of needles was great! The all is much better than any tool I currently own to make holes.

I've had the most fun
I've had the most fun with this set since I got it and I've made several books so far. It's got everything you need to get you started and enough supplies to last quite a while. All you need it paper and possibly glue depending on the book you're making. And directions. There are no directions but there are a lot of those on the internet for anyone truly interested.
