Douglas Hazel Cairn Terrier Dog Plush Stuffed Animal

I'm a collector of all things Cairn Terrier, including the occasional plushie or stuffed animal that companies may make. I have the now-retired Russ Berrie Yomiko Classics Cairn Terrier, the Aurora Cairn Terrier flopsie, the Demdaco/ Melissa and Doug Cairn Terrier, and even the Hansa Skye Terrier plushie already. I've even gone about making my own plushie with some locally-sourced faux fur.So, yeah, I'm serious about my love for all things Cairn Terrier. Chances are, if you've ever lived with a Cairn Terrier, you'll probably never have another breed of dog as your companion animal.Douglas has really done a great job with it's Cairn Terrier plushie. This one has that quality that makes it almost look alive. I'm not sure if it's the eyes, the head and face, or what, but it just about looks like it could be alive. With this plushie, there's even a slight tilt of the head--just like that one that Cairn Terriers are well-known for displaying, particularly when listening to their owners talk to them.It isn't always a plushie's exact likeness to the details of its real-life counterpart that makes it special. Sometimes, it's just this stuffed animal's ability to evoke the memories or feelings that happen when we look on something that reminds us of something else or the comforts made possible in a cozy cuddle. Douglas has almost certainly realized this, and it's evident in their Cairn Terrier plushie's design.While the price seems a little high for any small to medium sized stuffed animal, this one gets five stars for its quality construction, its mimicry of those Cairn terrier physical qualities, and for its lifelike wonder. It's softness is also worthy of mention, as is its ability to stand on its own four feet without falling over.While proportionally a bit out of scale with a real Cairn terrier and its body's parts since it's legs look a little longer and thicker than they might should be, it's capacity to stand on all-fours without falling down or over makes this more than acceptable to me.The soft faux fur is close to the breed color commonly called "gray brindle," and overall length of the fur is best described as either short or medium length. To me, the faux fur selected for this stuffed animal is reminiscent of the cairn terrier's "hairdo" where the cut is all one length, rather than that with varying length, such as in the haircut that includes a "skirt" that is commonly seen in haircuts given to the Schnauzer breed of dogs. Douglas has even trimmed the hairs of the fur on the bottoms of the paws and at the intersection of the bridge of its muzzle to the would-be skull just between its eyes. The plushie's ears and feet were kept rather simple in form, but they still seem to evoke feelings of a strong likeness to the Cairn Terrier aesthetic.For those of you who want to get an idea about this stuffed animal's size, it stands approximately 13.5 inches tall (from the bottom of its paws to the tops of its ears), it is approximately 14.5 inches long (from the tip of its nose to the back of its rump) and it is roughly 5 inches wide (from left side to right side). It weighs just under a pound or so. Its filling is polyfill, as best as I can tell, but there are no internal plastic pellets weighing it down, such as in its paws, as with beanie babies and others of the sort.Huggable, cuddleable, and collectable as any other--if not even more so--this Cairn Terrier stuffed animal gets all five stars from me, and I gladly recommend it as a perfect gift to give to anyone, child or otherwise, or as the perfect addition to one's own collection of Cairn Terrier related items.

Soft, cute, and very "To-to" like...which is what I was going for. Size is perfect! I bought this for myself...a grandmother...my pup is going in the basket on my bike! If nothing else, she'll bring a smile to fans of Wizard of Oz!

Well made stuffed dog, so life like! Very soft. My granddaughter loves it!

so cute and so realistic! her fur isn't the softest when you first get her, but you can machine wash her in a pillowcase on a delicate/hand wash cycle and dry on low heat and she softens up. first picture is when i just got her, and the other two are after washing and brushing with a wire brush!she's a bit smaller than the "dlux" plushies. a similar size to the build a bear promise pets or other four legged BABs. she fits most XS dog gear.i named her wren :)

Wanted to get my granddaughter a stuffed animal version of our dog for her birthday.He’s a Maltipoo and I couldn’t find one exactly like him. She LOVED this dog when she opened the gift. It’s soft and lovable and looks as much like our dog as possible. Not a lot of gray stuffed animals out there but this one was pretty spot on.

Entirely life like..soft..AMAZING how real it looks! And my nephew's real cairns love Toto!
