great stress release it does take time to take effect. i noticed a change about 6thday of continuous use

I have tried several different St John Wort capsules, as well as other natural approaches to mood support. I have had depression and anxiety issues to some extent for most of my life (early 40s now) and to varying degrees. Mood issues exacerbated by changing hormone levels brought me back to st Johns Wort. I have always loved Gaia products for their quality and liquid, concentrated delivery. This product? Has changed EVERYTHING. I can even feel an improvement in optimism when I take it that disappears when I don’t for a few days. My sugar cravings are lowered. My patience is increased. I am definitely more even and calmer. I do experience more sun sensitivity but that shows me it is working. I now tend to wear a hat and lightweight long or 3/4 sleeves because it is definitely necessary for me to be extremely consistent with sunscreen to avoid an issue. But I have decided since this works so well, it is completely worth these other steps!! LOVE this product. I take 2 twice a day, sometimes three times a day. I have more pronounced mood issues now. I would start with the recommended amount. It may very well be enough. Worth a shot!

Very very good. Exactly the right dose for me, if you take as directed on an empty stomach you will feel the difference. If you’ve never used St. John’s Wort before it may take some days to weeks to notice an effect, for me it is immediate. Gaia herbal extracts tend to be more expensive than competing products, but I have found they usually have a noticeably more pronounced effect; I have been using St. Johns Wort for years, and have tried cheaper brands, and have found that the higher price is justified. The dosage can be confusing, the label says 2.7 mg Hypericin in a 3 capsule dose: to sum up you get 0.9 mg Hypericin in each capsule, the same as the standard content in a .3% 300 mg capsule of every other brand.Update: I tried another brand that was cheaper but highly rated, made by Health’s Harmony, there is no comparison. I stopped taking them, and unfortunately the Gaia brand was unavailable for some time. Glad Amazon got these back in stock, I bought all they had. Amazon, please stock more of these!

Contrarily to the description, these are not the liquid capsules. They're regular powder capsules. I decided to keep them and give them a go as I heard great things about this brand, but I was underwhelmed. At this price they should be top quality, but having been on St Johns wort for 15 years and having tried heaps of different brands as well as looking at research and lab analysis, the only brand currently available that actually works is the Perika by Nature's Way (the one with the standardised extract and the quantity hyperforine listed), which is 1/3 of the price of this. All the others are leafs and stalks and are useless. Shame as I had high hopes for this

THEY WORK. I had tried dried St. John’s Wort preparations and nada. But this? This stuff is amazing!!I cannot tolerate (though need) antidepressants to balance my brain chemistry. I had given up on St. John’s Wort a while ago after earnestly trying other brands using the dried herb.But I recently decided to give it another try because I REALLY needed some support.So, despite the expense, I tried this one due to my fundamentally great experiences with Gaia Herbs as a brand.I titrated up slowly using 1 capsule at a time, 2x/day. And on my 2nd day of only 1 cap I started to get an intensification of anxiety and depression which is ALWAYS my first (and very temporary) response to pharmaceutical antidepressants, so I knew is was ACTUALLY WORKING this time! That took a week to 10 days to go away, and I increased my dose slowly over time while feeling better overall.I worked up to a good dose for me of 3 capsules 2x/day. My daily anxiety is gone - always my biggest depression-related issue. And overall my mood is solid and stable.I am a few months in now, and despite the expense of taking this at the therapeutic dose I need, I highly recommend this natural alternative to pharmaceuticals. Gaia Herbs are awesome!!!

I have taken different St. John's Wort products at different times in my life. I first took it for anxiety and trouble sleeping while i college (almost 20 years ago). I really believe it got me through one of the hardest semesters of my college career.Now fast forward to working professional, 3 kids running in 5 directions, and graduate school. I was so overwhelmed, depressed, anxious and not sleeping. I didn't like the idea of taking prescription anti-depressants with their side effects and the cost. So I went back to this.I am feeling much better. A few things I am watching: I had a string of some really bad, chronic headaches. I was wondering if it was the St. John's Wort, so I stopped taking it for a few months. I am back taking it and so far, head aches I get are manageable. As to whether or not it is because of this, I don't know. I also have thyroid disease and have had some adjustments in my dosage. Also, I am getting to "that age" were women start seeing hormonal shifts, so that may be a contributing factor as well.Yes, I recommend this product to folks with mild depression and anxiety. But caution people not to use this as a substitute for medical attention.
