No more plastic!!!
I’m not gonna lie. I was a little hesitant to buy this brush because of how expensive it is. I did receive a gift card for Christmas, and while it didn’t cover the cost of the entire brush, I’m happy to pay more for quality. I mean for $100. It better be darn good.I recently reviewed another brush from this brand that I purchased eight years ago and it’s still going strong. I absolutely love the 8 year old brush, and it’s a big reason for why I decided to purchase from this brand again. I’ve included a photo of it for reference with the new brush in the photos as well. Hopefully, you can get an idea of the quality of these brushes. The main reason why I decided to purchase this brush was because of the bristle configuration. I have a plastic… SCRATCH THAT, I threw away my old plastic brush that I never used to replace with this one and I’m so happy I did it something about plastic bristle brushes does not work well with hair that can tangle easily and we all know this if we have curly or wavy hair.I happen to have both, depending on the day, but this would also work for straight haired girlies as well. My boyfriend really likes the bristles, too. He prefers the boars bristles on his scalp and often says it’s massaging and soothing.Because the bristles are spread out, this allows, your hair to be better penetrated by the bristles and also allows the oils to spread more evenly. I must say that recently the difference between my old brush, and this newer one is noticeable in the fact that my hair feels much smoother.I think that my older brush may have a combination of boars hair and some other bristle type, but I did not confirm. The only thing I know is that there is a difference between the two brushes, and how my hair feels. Because this newer person is able to penetrate my hair much better. I’m noticing that it’s making it softer and smoother. The other brush has very dense bristles which meant that I had to press my hair in with my hand to get the desired effect sometimes I do that with this brush, but I find that it’s much easier to put my hair through.I will say that the poor bristles are a little rough, but I’m hoping that with time the soften up a bit before I started using the brush I hand washed it with my current shampoo to get anything weird off of it and let it dry. It did shed a few bristles. Some of the bristles were also broken when I received the brush, but I assume that when they shed off, that was the last of it. If its particular brush continues to shed, I will make a note of it in an update.I don’t really have a preference for the color of the handle. It’s not like people are going to see this normally outside of my bathroom so I ended up getting the white handle for a little bit cheaper, but definitely get a color that you like the wood feel sturdy And it’s very smooth. I almost think that they put a veneer or some sort of polish on top of it because my first brush is just natural and you can feel the texture of the wood as it would’ve been found in nature. This brush is probably smooth like this for a more refined feel, but I actually prefer the feel of the older brush handle.Regardless, we are not here for the handle or the color of the brush. We’re here for the effects that it has on our hair and I really really like this brush so much so that I will continue to use it probably until the day that I die because I believe the quality is such that this brush will last a lifetimeWe used to make things that lasted a long time and I’m grateful that there are still companies out there that want to make lifelong products and not one time throw away garbage plastic that will pollute our earth. I am never going back to a plastic brush ever again.

Now I know why cats purr when you brush them
I have thick coarse hair. I'd been using an MP boar bristle pocket brush which I liked well enough until the plastic handle broke for no apparent reason. In all fairness it was smaller, and also probably better for thinner fine hair. I replaced it with this brush because the equivalent MP was way more expensive. I almost put myself in a trance the first time I used it.

Great for long, thick, wavy hair
I am 73 years old and decided to let my hair go gray about 4 months ago. My just below shoulder length hair is thick, wavy and the gray portions are more difficult to make smooth. With long hair to my waist in my 20’s to 40’s I only used a Mason & Pearson 100% boar bristle brush which kept my hair in great shape without using any styling products. I was hesitant to spend $300+ on a Mason&Pearson brush that might not give me the same results I had when younger. The Calcutta Max had great reviews and I thought it would be a less expensive experiment. The Calcutta Max is a very nice brush. It easily goes through my hair and has noticeably smoothed the gray and enhanced the texture of all my hair. The stiffness of the bristles have a perfect feel on my scalp. The design and size of the brush makes it easy to work through my hair from roots to ends without working in sections with very few strands coming out on brush. I am very pleased with this brush and highly recommend it. Wish I had bought it sooner.

It works on thick hair
I was hesitant to spend this much on a brush. I have always loved the feel of a boar bristle brush but they never penetrated all the way down to my scalp. This is the first one that worked properly. It feels like a massage on my scalp.I let my daughter-in-law try it and she was excited how silky it left her hair. I will be purchasing one for her for her birthday.

I really like it...but
Don't get me wrong; it works as stated for my natural hair, and I really like it. I just wish it was a tad bit smaller because I have small hands. Overall, it's nice, and I can work around that one flaw.

IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY
IT HURTS TO BRUSH W/THOSE WIRE BRISTLE BRUSHES W/ THE BALL TIPS, IT PULLS OUT ALOT OF HAIR AND BREAKS SO MUCH OF IT. ITIS VERY PAINFUL. MY HAIR IS THICK AND DRY ERGO TENDS TO BREAK WHEN I COMB THROUGH THE KNOTS. THIS BRUSH NOT ONLY COMBS THROUGH THEM QUICKLY, I DON'T FEEL PAIN AND ANGER (LIKE THROWING THE BRUSH BUT DON'T!!) AND SHORT HAIR IS TOTALLY OUT OF CONTROL, SO, THAT'S OUT!! THIS NEW BRUSH IS GREAT FOR MY LONGISH HAIR. I USE TO BUY A PLASTIC BRISTLE BRUSH AND THEY DID OK BUT THEY DIDN'T CALM MY HAIR DOWN AND I HAVEN'T SEEN ONE FOR YEARS NOW. SAW THIS ONE ON AMAZON AND DECIDED IF IT WAS SO GOOD i,D PAY A LITTLE MORE AND GET WHAT MIGHT WORK FOR ME...IT DOES!! I'M NO LONGER ANGRY AT THE PAIN, AND WANTING TO THROW THE BRUSH..IT CALMS BOTH ME AND MY HAIR AND I LOVE IT AND WOULD BUY IT AGAIN AND AGAIN!! i THINK THIS BRUSH MIGHT OUTLAST ME!!! THESE BRISTLES ARE VERY THICK AND TOUGH, I CAN UNDERSTAND WHY THEY WOULD BE AS ADVERTISED. THIS IS NOT A BRISTLE BRUSH FOR LITTLE ONES. IT IS MEANT FOR HAIR LIKE MINE...AND ITS OK..i COMB IT ONE SECTION AT A TIME ANYWAY SO NEEDING TO DO THAT WAS FINE, (EVERY ONE WITH THIS KIND OF HAIR HAS TO SECTION IT!!) I AM SO HAPPY TO HAVE THIS BRUSH. IT'S ONE OF THOSE THINGS YOU REMEMBER WHEN YOU USE IT, HOW THANKFUL YOU ARE THAT SUCH A BRUSH EXISTS, AND THAT YOU HAVE ONE!! IT'S LIKE HAIR THAT'S ALMOST A MEDICAL SITUATION AND IF YOU DON'T HAVE HAIR LIKE MINE, DON'T LAUGH, IT'S ACTUALLY A SERIOUS PROBLEM... BUT THIS WILD BOAR BRISTLE BRUSH IS AN ANSWER FOR ME. I FEEL LIKE IT IS A TREATMENT FOR ME, DEFINITELY A TREAT AND A BLESSING!! I'd BUY IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND AGAIN!!
