I cannot believe how this heats up to the highest level in seconds. I cooked 5 hot dogs in minutes...thoroughly! I bought the infrared. I just got it yesterday, used it today for the 1st time, so I don't know about withstanding the test of time. So easy to use.and easy to clean. It's pretty lightweight, so I don't expect it to take much wear and tearLots of plastic. I have a beautiful cook top range, with 5 burners and two of the burners switch to two different sizes each. It looks especially nice when it's clean and shiny. I got tired of cleaning the whole top when I used only one panSo I saw this appliance and thought, why not try this and use it for those "one pan" times, so that all I have to clean is one little burner. OMG what a great idea. It's very modern and sleek looking too, so it looks good sitting right out on top of my existing range. I'm going to try to use it every day for about 2 weeks and see if I think it will last. If I like it we'll enough, I may buy the 2 burner one. Today I love it and am very happy with my purchase. I am Very Glad I opted for the infrared one. I think that might be why it's so fast and even to heat up. Great buy. Price if definitely right. Very fast delivery..less than 24 hrs.

Cooks evenly and hits up fairly quickly. Perfect size and easy to clean. Worth every penny.

*Update*After leaving my original review I contacted the manufacturer inquiring about the products warranty via their support email address (apparently they had tried to contact me on Amazon after reading my review, but I had not seen the message until after I had emailed them). I received a quick response in which they offered to send me a replacement unit. Suffice to say, in my experience I found their customer service to be very responsive and accommodating.As for the replacement unit I received, after having tested it for several days I'm happy to report that it's functioning as well as my original unit was before I started having the issue that prompted my original review. This burner does well with simple meals such as light stir-fry's, thin cuts of meat with vegetables, rice, pasta, etc. for 1-2 people. If you're looking to do larger cuts of meat, or heavier meals in general, you may want to consider an 1800W burner (or perhaps even a gas powered one). Utilize this burner appropriately, and it gets the job done pretty well.*Original review*When I initially purchased this burner I was pretty satisfied with it. I was able to sufficiently saute vegetables, mix up some stir-fry, make some home fries, etc. Unfortunately, now about four months into use, it feels like it has lost power. Granted, I know better than to expect to be able to properly sear a steak on a 1200W portable burner, but at this point I can barely brown a pre-cooked sausage in a reasonable time frame—the night prior to writing this it took at least 20 minutes to brown two pre-cooked bratwurst and some onion slices on the highest temperature setting. All of the heating elements appear to be working, so maybe something is wrong with the internal thermostat/temperature control feature and causing it to improperly maintain temperature. Regardless of the reason, it has become frustrating and I'm going to be looking for a replacement soon.

An improvement of the single burner electric cooker that's been around for decades. Nice hard glass (?) top. Updated heating element. Heats up real fast!

I have used it on a very regular basis for about 4.5 months and really like it so far. It provides great power and consistent heat making cooking very easy. It heats up very fast and I'm able to adjust the temperature appropriately as needed. It's lightweight, but feels sturdy even with a large or heavy pan on top of it. I like the modern, clean look as well.My only complaint about it is the temperature controls and really that isn't a big deal. I'm not a seasoned cook so I always have to look up what temperature things need to cook at to adjust the control because it uses wattage instead of traditional "low", "medium" "high" temperature settings. I just keep a picture handy of what temperatures correlate to the wattage to make it easier for me, but is worth pointing out in case someone may have trouble understanding this. It's very easy and intuitive to adjust the temperature once you are comfortable with what wattage to use.Overall, I highly recommend this burner. I'll be honest with you, I was nervous to buy a brand that's not more mainstream/sold in big box stores, but I'm glad I took the chance on this as this is really a great burner.
