Great value - best place to start child into good educational habits
Bought this for my 4 year old son. Wife wanted to start him in Kumon, but figured I try this book out before we spend the time and money for actual kumon classes. This book is fantastic. He enjoys doing the activities in there, there is a huge variety of content for him to work on. I was afraid it was dry, repetitive workbook content, but it the content was actually fun for him and challenging at the same time. In fact, it was so fun that my 3 year old loved the workbook as well and we ended up buying a second one just for him.

Simple book, but really helpful for my 4 1/2 year old.
I was checking out books at our bookstore for my 4 1/2 year old son to prepare him for kindergarten. This particular book is one of a series, and I chose it for the pencil skills. This is a maze book, and starts with a simple maze and progressively gets more difficult. Each page has a different name, like "Off to School," and you have to trace the route the bunny needs to take to school. The age rage is 4-5 years old. We've had this book for two days and my son has worked his way through more than half the book -- he really loves it! After about a quarter way through the book I think my son has mastered the "get through the maze" skill, but this workbook has really helped him learn to hold his pencil correctly! And also, when he first started to do the mazes he would start off tracing and figure out where to go as he went along, making wrong turns and back tracking. But my son has learned to take a moment to review the puzzle. When he's figured it out he likes to tell me, "Okay, got it" and he does the puzzle correctly the first time. I think it's helped to teach him to take a moment to review the problem first.Overall review: this is a very simple concept but a great book for young kids. Definitely recommend it.

Great prep for kindergarten
I bought this book to help my 4-year-old daughter get ready for kindergarten, and it has been a great tool for building foundational skills. The activities are well-structured, colorful, and age-appropriate. I love that it focuses on fine motor skills like tracing, cutting, and matching — all essential for the early classroom experience. The layout is simple enough that my daughter can follow along with minimal guidance, but it also gives us a good chance to work together and talk through the exercises. She actually asks to do pages from this book, which says a lot!One thing to note: this book works best as a supplement to other learning methods. It’s not a complete curriculum, but it really helps reinforce key concepts like patterns, shapes, letters, and numbers in a way that doesn’t feel overwhelming. We’ve seen noticeable improvement in her confidence with pencil control and problem-solving. I definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a fun, structured way to get your preschooler ready for the big leap into kindergarten.

Would recommend
I'll start by saying every Kumon product we have bought has been amazing. This book is not any less so. It is, however, different than what I expected. I wish there were some sample pages listed in the images so that parents would know what to expect. This book is full of pictures mazes where the child starts at one place and has to draw his/her way through the maze. That is great, and definitely good for pencil control, but I thought there were other exercises. My 4 year enjoys doing the mazes, but gets bored with them. I wish this book was a mix of different pencil control options. Overall, however, it is a great product and I will say my daughter has gotten better with her pencil from this book.

fantastic books!
When my friend told me about these workbooks, I was excited to try them during the summer but I wasn't sure how my 3 boys would react. From the get go they loved them! I tried to set aside a few times/week to work on a few pages and they always wanted to do more. Now that school is in full swing, my preschooler and kindergartener (1st grader not so much) still pick them up at random times and work on them. I put them in an accessible place, with pencils and kid scissors nearby and let them work on them. I try not to supervise too much so they make/correct mistakes and take ownership of their work/progress. I love these workbooks and plan to buy more for next summer. My preschooler even asked for more for Christmas
