DNA Motoring TANK-PS-005 Aluminum Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Can with Cap

I had purchased a reservoir from an online automotive supplier. It looked nice and came with a good 2 clamp bracket, but the weight of an AN10 hose actually bent the bottom of the unit. The DNA motors reservoir was purchased to prevent leaks from my too thin reservoir. Thick aluminum nicely welded, with a baffle, and powder coated, excellent! They even seem to have improved the chromed cap with a silicone gasket. My only suggestion to DNA is to include two brackets to better stabilize reservoir.

The Build.. the Finish.. I'm in Awe after having Issues with a Different Item for a Power Steering Reservoir..Welds are Nice with the One Sent to Me.. Top Tier.. Make Sure You Order the Right Fittings... Take Your Time and Use a Higj Heat Thread Lock... was Once told threadlock didn't Matter with Certain Fittings... But I Hate Leaks..

Cool looking product for the $$ but problematic... Large port threads to pump feed are way too large for supplied fitting. Product comes with 1/2" npt fitting that does not fit correctly, very sloppy threads and 3/4 is too big. Its almost a "an" thread but will never tighten up against anything. Maybe JB weld or take to a/c hose shop and have them tig weld an aluminum a fitting.Cap gasket very thin, add additional gasket and or tap down where the cap pulls down either on tank or cap so it pulls down tighter.An obvious manufacturing defect, DNA Motoring offered no excuses or apologies. All they said was contact Amazon Customer Service.In conclusion, I spent an additional $50 at A/C hose shop to have a 90 degree aluminum fitting with 5/8 barb end tig welded for my application, added thicker gasket and modified cap by taping pull down points on cap to pull down tighter. Was leaking because cap would not pull down tightly.Should work fine now. Aggravating!!!

The quality of the tank is excellent. The only reason for 4 stars is the vendor painted over the AN connections. The paint must be removed before mating connectors can be attached.

This is not a well built reservoir, although it may work for you. Power steering fluid reservoirs are not simply a tank holding extra liquid. They serve as a medium for the fluid to flow back and forth through the reservoir and the two hoses as the pump applies pressure to the liquid back and forth as you turn the wheel left and right, so the seals must be tight. This failed for me in every way. The two bottom connectors seemed to be the perfect size visually for my hoses, and slipped on fine with some grip, however, after driving fluid leaked from both hose connections almost immediately. Also, the cap is not a really a proper sealed cap. It’s not threaded but instead has a very cheaply designed, thin angled ring which is supposed to keep the fluid in with the help of a silicon washer, but doesn’t. I had fluid leak from the top of this reservoir, even when only half full. This thing made such a mess in my engine bay I had to throw it out and just replace it with a stock one. So glad I did and frankly, it looks better than this cheap piece of metal. Don’t be fooled by the shiny.

First if all I rarely post comments but This is a extremely well built part for less then $60 shipped. The welds are all good. The aluminum is good thickness. The barbs are welded on great and they weld in a baffle. They even welded the under sides of the flanges connected to the tank… could the cap be nicer? Yes. But for the price you pay you get well beyond what would be expected. Im not sure if i got lucky and the guy who made it was having a good day when he made this but i would definitely recommend

So where to start... I originally ordered this reservoir to replace the stock plastic one only because Ford and every aftermarket hose manufacturer discontinued production of the formed hose (suction) that goes from the reservoir to the pump for the GT. I did not like how the by the foot hose had to have excessive length to make a sweeping turn, if not the hose would kink when installed. So I figured if I couldn't make a hard 90 with straight hose I could get an aftermarket reservoir and just get a 90° fitting solving both problems. So I ordered this tank.As some of the other reviews have stated this reservoir was not a direct fit replacement. I don't know if there was a variation in the fan shrouds across years and models or possibly a defective jig/fit-up in production, but whatever the case it did not just drop right in. As in the bung for the fitting in the bottom is so close to the tab that there is no possible way for it to fit without cutting/modifying the fan shroud. I wasn't about to do that so I broke the tab off took some guesstimated measurements and welded a new tab where it would clear the bung. That was the bigger problem but not the only problem. the slot on the mounting tab could not be used as a molded in gusset (Highlighted in pic) on the shroud prevents the reservoir from shifting to the left. So I had to drill a new hole to secure it.As far as the product itself, I would not recommend purchasing this and go with the better name brand (Canton) if you do not have the means to make the modifications that I have. I kept it and made it work since it is a 3rd of the price of the Canton tank.****Recommendations if you do buy this reservoir*****1. Dry test fit on the fan shroud. If it doesn't fit and you don't have the means to modify/weld it, send it back.2. If it does fit and or you are going to modify it, cap off all openings as well as possible and through one of the ports blow compressed air into the tank, spray all welds with a soapy water solution on the outside of the tank and look for leaks. Also like another reviewer, the first one I received Leaked at the weld on bung on the bottom of the tank.3. Don't expect it to be pretty. of the 2 I ordered the first seemed to be new, but minor scratches on the cap and exterior. the attached pictures are of the second reservoir I received and It seems that It was returned and had a plethora of scratches oh the exterior and lid and the fitting had obviously been installed. because the thread tape was chewed and dirty. I didn't really care about this as I wasn't using the straight fitting provided and the scratches didn't particularly matter as I had intended to paint it anyway. I just needed it not to leak.And I chose to order a second of these as it would be more work than it would be worth to try and clean the fluid out of the first tank so that the weld on the bung could be redone.For most you are better off spending the extra money on the canton reservoir to avoid the extra work and the issues. If you have the capabilities then this can save you some money if you are willing to put a little time into making it fit.
