Slow and Steady
I have this mounted on my 10 foot utility trailer. I fabricated and welded an additional mounting plate to face tongue side of the trailer to mount the winch on. I mainly use this for lawnmowers and small tractors that do not run to get them on the trailer. I haven't had any problems and it pulls whatever I have needed it to. A huge perk for me, and the main reason I purchased this particular winch is that it uses the same controller as my 8000 pound Suerwinch on my car trailer so I don't have to carry different controllers for the two winches. For powering the winch, I have 25' of 6 gauge pure copper cable with clamps Road Power 400C-2 500-Amps Booster Cable Clamps, Red/Black, 2-Pack on one end, and mini Anderson style connectors HYCLAT 6-10 GAUGE Battery Quick Connect/Disconnect Wire Harness Plug Connector Recovery Winch Trailer on the ends of the cables to connect them. I store this cable along with the controller in a small toolbox Better Built 67011386 ATV Tool Box that is mounted on the tongue of the trailer. This way when I use the trailer, it doesn't matter which truck I use, I will have what I need to power the winch. I can also loan the trailer out to friends or family, and they will have what is needed.I have used the winch about 30 times as of the review and it is holding up very well and I am happy with it. I only have 2 small complaints. First, it is slow, but it beats having to move dead equipment, especially 2000 pound tractors, or using a cable puller. Second is the freespooling control. It's a bit different and sticks every now and then, but is minor. I can always use power to run the winch out.Long story short, it works very well and if I would need a second winch of this capacity, I will no doubt buy another one.

Great winch.....better than super customer service..
TI bought this winch to pull my ,mobility scooter up a ramp and into the side door of my Cargo Van. The winch is excellent, but the remoite control gave me fits.Superwinch, though, is an incredible company, seriously focused on customer service. In the two years I've had the winch the toggle switch remote control has failed 3 times. Each time I called Superwinch and they sent me a new control module and the corded remote, even after the warranty had run out. Last week, the remote failed for the fourth time (again the winch is super...the remote isn't). I wrote a nice email to Superwinch explaining that I was a disabled American who needed a dependable winch to get my scooter in an out of the van. I explained that it is exasperating when you have gone shopping and return to find that the remote control quit again and I couldn't get my scooter back into the van.Today, about five days after I sent that email Mike from Superwinch called to tell me he was sorry for the problems I've experienced and that he was sending me a brand new superwinch of the same power, but different design. He said the problems I've had are very unlikely to be repeated. This is now a full year after the warranty had run out on my old winch.I am blown away. It is rare that you get that kind of customer service anymore, but Superwinch has proved to me several times that they take their commitment to customers quite seriously. They should have another five star choice for customer service on this Amazon site because certainly Superwinch would get five plus from me. At age 77 I've bought a lot of things from a lot of companies in my lifetime, few if any have treated me with this kind of respect and concern. Thank you Superwinch....you are the best!!!!! .I bought it as a cheap and easy way to get my mobility scooter in the side doors of our Chevy express and it worked beautifully. I had to build a shelf for it to sit on and then attached the shelf to the wall of t h e van.I Bought an Aluminum ramp from Amazon and a jump start AGM battery from an auto parts store. I got the battery because it fits well between the seats and can be recharged by plugging in to the 12 volt socket in the van. That means I never have to take the battery out. For a little over $300 i have a safe, easy and quick way to get the scooter in and out. This winch would pull many times the scooter weight but I bought it because it came with the mounting plate, a better remote control and was easily mountable. Installed it, connected to battery, and scooter and it worked perfectly on first try. This winch will save my and my wife's backs. No more lifting. We love this winch! It s now April of 2015 and twice the winch has control module has failed. On both occasions the winch would not reverse and I could not get my mobility scooter out of the van. That's a major inconvenience. The company was very responsive both times and sent me, free of charge, the control box that sits on top of the winch and that corrected the problem. The winch works fine, but the controller is suspect. This is great service and would cause me to do business with them again and to recommend them to others. I think, though, that the company had better look into what is causing the control module to fail. Knowing what I do now, I would buy from Superwinch again, I just wouldn't buy this particular winch.

Works on Polaris RZR, nice alternative to normal ATV winch
Consider this winch instead of traditional winch labeled as an ATV winch. Advantages of this unit include the solenoid is in a plastic box attached to winch. You do not have to wire a separate circuit for solenoid. You do not have to find a switched 'hot' wire to activate the solenoid. Once installed on ATV, UTV, or what ever, all you need is to connect the main wire leads to power source and you are ready to go. Most winch operations end up with winch operated from foot near front of UTV so no need for a switch inside. For the Polaris RZR, the battery leads were too short. My winch is mounted on top of a substantial front bumper. I ran winch power leads under RZR front hood. Then I connected the negative lead to a frame bolt which holds radiator. I added a heavy gauge multi strand wire to the winch positive lead so it would reach battery. Wire ties hold everything snug. A nice simple installation. Box mounted on winch is plastic and even though not sealed at its base, any water should drain downward so little chance of water damage to connections. I added dielectric grease to control connector on top of solenoid box as added protection against moisture.
