ESV Study Bible (Buffalo Leather, Deep Brown): Holy Bible, English Standard Version

This Bible is stunning and feels great in the hand. I immediately started reading my Bible a ton, so excited to read the notes and get context. I went from Old Testament through new and just have the wisdom books remaining, but I appreciated the insight offered in the footnotes, as well as at the start of each book. I cannot say enough good things!

This is one very well thought out study Bible. The notes, and topic information are quite good, filling in details that might not be as clear as it could be in some cases. The buffalo skin cover seems quite sturdy, yet has some flex as well; it seems like this should hold up quite well. This is a substantial text, and although the main font is 9, and the study notes are a 7.5 font, my ancient eyes seem to find this an easy read.

Thought the print might be small, but it’s actually perfect for my poor eyesight. Also, went back and forth between cowhide and buffalo, opted for buffalo and love it! The darker tone got me and the solid feel vs the plush cowhide. Wish the cowhide wasn’t so flexible but it was quality, just not my style.

I recommend this Bible. The ESV study Bible is great and very informative, especially for those that want to dive into the Word and build a deeper understanding. The buffalo leather is very nice and sturdy with a pebble texture. I love that similar brown color tones are carried throughout the Bible highlights to match the overall color scheme. Makes for an enjoyable reading experience. Well done!

This is definitely my favorite study Bible. This one in buffalo leather is my second one. I purchased a non-premium version to make sure I wanted to make the larger investment into a premium one. I already have a "reading" Bible in the buffalo leather. It's nice to have my go to study Bible in a cover to match.The leather is not floppy at all, has good structure, and should hold up to daily use. There is little to no leather smell. My smaller reading Bible is the same way. I think some leathers do smell more than others and perhaps buffalo is one of those that just doesn't have the nice leathery smell other leathers have. I have a lambskin KJV Thompson Chain that doesn't smell much either but also have leather traveler's notebook that have such a strong smell that I don't have to be holding them to smell them.This one is heavy so keep that in mind if you're looking for a Bible to carry around. There are many features in this one beyond the Bible text that are helpful for a deeper study. From what I understand, the notes and articles are more reformation leaning but that doesn't hinder me from getting the most out of my Bible study time. I do use more than one translation as well as the Thompson Chain reference as further guidance.If I had one complaint, it's that there is only one ribbon marker. A second one would be helpful but seeing as how this it meant to be an all in one study Bible, another one or two ribbons would make this almost the perfect study Bible.

The media could not be loaded. Disclaimer - I am not a "Bible aficionado" but I knew what I was looking for and I FOUND IT! I needed a Bible with room to write, but not the 2 inch margins afforded in journaling Bibles. I also needed to the font to not be microscopic, but comfortable. Font is 9 and the study notes is 7. This may seem small, but it is very comfortable (I wear reading glasses with a slight magnification necessary - my arms are no longer long enough to hold things that far away LOL) Anyway...I love the single column. It is plenty of room to write my notes and I like that I don't have to write in the gutter for the inside column anymore. There is a lot of "extra" stuff in this Bible that the description doesn't mention.
