Versele Laga Insect Patee Aviary Bird Complete Food 800g

I've purchased this product over the years as a part of my 8 1/2 year old starling's diet. I was advised torefrigerate the product originally (not needed now, I'm told). The bird ate it--sometimes and somewhat.The product was a dark brown, with few visible insect ingredients. "Bakery products" made up the bulk of it, which I questionably considered not that healthy. Well, my past few orders came from New York Bird Supply and is now called Nutribird. It is a lighter brown, like a tan, but has visible insect ingredients, including mealworms. The first time I put this out, the bird glommed on it, and has ever since. So, if you've used it in the past, try this newer version. It looks healthier and more palatable, and the bird agrees. I believe Amazon has been using the New York vendor exclusively, which is fine with me, as theservice is great.

I give this insect Patee to my small birds as an addition to their regular seed. They absolutely love it and I feel it's very healthy for them. The only downside is the odor is not pleasant. I'm not surprised since it has dead insects in it. The value for the money is good as it lasts a long time. It is also useful for raising birds. I use it as their first food to encourage them to feed themselves. It's worth the strong odor.

It is merely mush, not what I was expecting.
