Q: Why are these so expensive? Is there a motor?

These do not have motors. These American-made products are built of quality materials and are shipped in two separate boxes. Shipment costs are included in the pricing-- which is quite expensive. It’s pretty easy to push around. My wife and I are both in our 60’s and have no problem

Q: Will this pick up acorns?

If your acorns are 3/8"- 1 1/2" in diameter you should order the pecan machine. This will get your sweet gum and your larger acorns.
