Works well for woodpeckers
I bought this to drive away a woodpecker that developed affinity to wood trim on my chimney. As soon as I turned it on, it drove away the pecker.

Does seem to help repel woodpeckers from my home
We had to turn this off for a couple of weeks and in that time woodpeckers returned to the house and caused some damage to the siding. Once we got it back up and running, the pecking stopped and they haven't returned. Really like that it has a daylight sensor so it requires no user intervention to stay effective.

Great Manufacturer, BUT this PARTICULAR model is NOT FOR WOODPECKERS!
I have to be honest. Bought several of these through the years. We have a 3-story white stucco house the woodpeckers have been eating away at for decades. We have spent thousands trying to deter them. This particular product, the manufacturer is terrific, but this purchase didn’t make my woodpeckers flinch. I keep repairing 6-inch diameter holes all over my house on the third-story they choose for their dinner.Amazon’s:Bird-X BirdXPeller® PRO Electronic Bird Repeller Version WP for Woodpeckers & SparrowsDOESN’T WORK FOR WOODPECKERS; I THREW MINE OUT!Home Depot’s:Bird-X Woodpecker Pro Electronic Bird Repeller Guaranteed Woodpecker Control Solution 1-Acre CoverageIS THE ONLY PRODUCT THAT HAS EVER WORKED IN DECADES OF WOODPECKER INFESTATION BASICALLY ALL SEASONS$199.So, as for the manufacturer, the above is ANOTHER version of this product, UNIQUE TO WOODPECKERS ONLY and it WORKS!I looked on Amazon for it, but they only have this one that perhaps suits other homeowners’ needs for other birds. Sorry Amazon, while it says it’s for woodpeckers, it is not. Especially not ‘the real McCoy’ if you have woodpeckers tearing your home into Swiss cheese. I actually threw the Amazon one out. For about the same price the one that only has ‘woodpeckers’ as it’s ONLY feature bird is the only one for woodpeckers.By the way, it says they are waterproof but they are not. We put ours in an out door cabinet on our 2nd story deck with a hole in back of the cabinet to let woodpecker sounds out and it needs to detect day from night. Being in the cabinet just means it shuts off earlier in the day than if outside. But hasn’t been an issue.

Cheap insurance
Woodpeckers attacked our cedar siding, huge holes, thousands $$$ to replace damaged boards. We had tried streamers, but unless you install them on hangers (so hang away from siding), they can actually scratch the paint off the wood and don't actually fly around enough to scare the birds. Cornell Lab of Ornithology (Google) has an independent study (all of other websites seem to have a motivation to sell you something). In short Cornell's recommendation - don't paint your house a 'tree' like color but if the woodpeckers like your house, streamers (properly installed) work the most reliably and cheapest (however you do have to replace periodically).I purchased Bird-X as additional insurance after an expensive repair. Does it work? No idea, we've had no woodpeckers since we launched our offense. It appears well made, easy to set-up and very loud. Be sure and follow instructions (random calls and only periodically seems to be the recommendation). For the price - its cheap insurance. Cornell Lab seems to think it may have some limited benefit.

Bye-Bye Birdie!
OMG! This is working!! I saw the photo of the woodpecker next to this unit. My little demon is just that, much smaller and cuter--but the holes made are NOT funny. One drawback--you need an outlet os be ready with a long extension cord. I also had to reposition it, as the decibles were higher than allowed.

Worked well but lasted only one winter
Successfully drove away the woodpecker that was making holes in the EIFS stucco on the side of our house. However, after a full winter outside, the sound became scratchy and full of static. Since the unit appears to be weather-sealed, I was somewhat disappointed that it only lasted one season.

Worked for us! Red Bellied Woodpecker
We deployed this on the side of our house where woodpeckers were doing a lot of damage. We're talking large holes all the way through our cedar wood paneling. These were the medium sized (red-bellied) wood peckers that we have here in PA. I rarely see the Pileated, but they thankfully have not been an issue. This device is certainly affective for the red-bellied woodpecker. After installing the Xpeller, the woodpeckers stopped digging into our house. After about 4 years, we noticed that they were starting up again on the other side of the house. That day, I moved the Xpeller to the problem side and again, no more woodpeckers tearing the house apart. That said, the birds are still in the trees around our home and in our yard, but they stopped damaging the house. I will get another Xpeller if they start up again on another side of our house. Definitely worth the money and it's otherwise harmless, and actually sounds pretty cool. I have never received a complaint from a neighbor.

Reasonably effective, but not very durable
I have now purchased three of these devices. All three seemed to be effective in deterring woodpeckers, as we have not had any siding damage in about 12 years after first installing one. The first unit lasted about 10 years or perhaps even more, so I was quite satisfied with that. The last two failed within 1 year (after the 6 month warranty expired, but fortunately I was able to take advantage of American Express's no-cost extended warranty). The units have been installed against the house under the eaves, so they have not been exposed to rain or snow to any great degree.
