Coconut Opener (Brazil's Official Coconut Tool) by Metal Coco

I have three kinds of coconut openers and this is my favorite. It is very sturdy, easily punches through green husk and leaves a nice-sized clean hole. The other models I own (one with the black plastic handle and one with the red plastic handle) are not as sturdy and harder to get into the coconut. I do still sometimes use the red-handled opener for brown coconuts without a husk because it is perfect size for the eye. You can use this metal one to dig out a mature eye but not as cleanly.I think some of the negative reviews of this device are confused by the name "coconut opener". To be clear, this is just for getting the juice out. If you want to fully open the coconut to get to the meat, that is harder task for a different tool. But still, the first step is to drain the coconut water and this is the best way to do that.

I find this tool to work perfectly to open almost all coconuts.It's designed for young green ones, and opens them so easily it's great. I've also open older coconuts with no problems, this thing is sturdy. It takes a couple of bounces on the ground with the coconuts and the opener together to crack into the shell, but then the rest is pretty simple. I'll update if I'm able to break this tool down here in Puerto Rico as I put it to good use, 8-10 a week.

A must for any tropical kitchen. We live in Hawaii and use it twice a year when our tree goes off. Works easily and quickly. The only reason I'm re-ordering is because our original one seems to have grown legs and walked away... I reordered one for ourselves and my friend.

Bad quality welding... there are sharp edges on the handle area that cuts my hands when opening a coconut.

Love it, Love it, Love it. I have spent years cracking nails, breaking knives, using a drill, asking someone to open my coconuts. We have plenty of coconut trees in our yard and I would jus give them away because I could not master such a difficult task. Well no more giving away most of my coconuts because I can't open them. This tool arrived today and I went outside to get a coconut. I was able to open my coconut within 1 minute and I could not believe how easy it was. The package comes with instructions and there are really three easy basic steps. I will not need to read the instructions again, but the package is so nice that I will just keep the instructions around. This is the tool I should have had 5 years ago. Forget the other items on Amazon. I looked at their reviews and saw videos, etc. This is the one for me and I highly recommend this tool. Women, completely easy to open this coconut. All you need is the tool and a cup (or just use a straw with the neat hole that this tool leaves in your coconut).

I was not sure how this opener worked, I checked some online videos and that made me decide to get this one. I was opening the coconuts I get from my backyard Palm trees with a drill and a long drill bit. Creating a mess. This opener is made of steal. It is very strong. The handle is soldered in very good. It makes opening coconuts a breeze. No mess and in a jiffy. The edges are sharp witch helps when pressing against the hard coconut. The only thing I would change is the handle size, which I would make bigger and with a better grip material. When the coconut is mature it has a harder outer cover and with these coconuts it turnes into a small challenge to fully press down and twist. Other than that I absolutely love this item. Very helpful devise. 4 stars due to small handle.

I watched a couple videos on how to use this, and it works exactly the way it should. I spent the extra $ on this particular model because it is all one metal piece. No plastic handle to break off. It is very sturdy and will probably last forever.

We love green coconuts! We had been opening them with a machete. Using this tool is much, much easier and safer! I have wounds from the machete to prove it:(!I place the green coconut on the counter and push the opener into the coconut until it reaches the hard shell, then I place the coconut on the floor and hit the tool with a small hammer (so glad that this is 100% metal). My husband can open it by hitting the tool with his hand.Using the machete I went outside to open the coconuts now I can do it inside. Using the tool does produce a small amount of coconut shaving on the floor that is easy to clean up with a kitchen towel.
